Global Infrastructure
Telesat operates a robust and comprehensive fiber and teleport infrastructure that we have seamlessly integrated with our global satellite fleet. The result – Telesat has the right assets in the sky and on the ground to provide our customers with the most advanced, end-to-end access and transmission services for both private and public networking.
Telesat's global network of teleports provides customers access to:
- Our satellite fleet for video distribution and data networking – whether the need is local, national, regional, or worldwide; and
- Advanced satellite services and applications that improve operational performance.
Customers have come to rely on Telesat's teleport network for high levels of redundancy and engineering support along with comprehensive service monitoring, standby power, signal protection, and network management. Another customer advantage: communications expenses can be reduced by housing equipment at our teleport facilities and sharing teleport expenses with other Telesat customers.
Telesat's first teleport was established in 1987 and since then we have remained at the forefront of the industry. Common features of our teleports include:
- Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and back-up diesel generator
- Access to regional communications networks and wide area network connections
- On-premise technologists and technicians that monitor and maintain equipment
- Hot standby spares and readily accessible replacement equipment
- Carrier class hardware engineered to higher standards than would be practical at single-customer sites
The World Teleport Association has consistently listed Telesat as a Top Global Teleport Operator.
